American Federation of Labor Historic Marker
At this location on December 10, 1886, the Federation of Organized Trades and Labor Union merged with the Knights of Labor to create the American Federation of Labor. Delegates elected Samuel Gompers president and dedicated the Federation to improving the life of America's working men and women. This historic marker was placed in Richter Worker's Memorial Park. However, the park is presently closed due to the Scioto Greenways construction project.
This marker was created and dedicated in 2008 by the Ohio Historical Society in partnership with the AFL-CIO
