    This topic category includes highlights of Clio entries that share the history behind landmarks located on the former Route 66, an iconic national road that traces its origin to the nation’s first Federal highway system, which was created in 1926 by combining existing roads with new construction to create a complete road from Chicago to Los Angeles. In the near future, we hope to build a nationwide "History of Route 66 Trail" along with numerous smaller Route 66 driving tours.
