Description

Welcome to the Rocks Village Historic District, located in the East Parish of Haverhill, Massachusetts. The district has played a central role in the town’s history, ebbing and flowing between acting as a center of commerce and a quiet agrarian society. This district is made up of 25 buildings which date from the eighteenth to twentieth centuries. Significant buildings include the Hand Tub House, Major Zebulon Ingersoll House, Swartz House, Lt. Samuel Estabrook House, Deacon J. Foote House, and Countess House. The district has historical associations such as poet John Greenleaf Whittier and muralist Rufus Porter.
