Historically, the house inspired a second generation of residences which were simple and elegant. This architectural style resembled homes that reflected renewed interest. The homes appear plainer and mostly assembled than crafted. They were part of the new suburbs and were built with durable material. This designed was soon to be considered nationalistic in the United States. Colonial Revival Style homes peaked in the early 1950s. Since this house was built in 1916 it was considered one of the first Colonial Revival Style homes not only in Orlando but in the United States.
Rev John J. Bridges and his wife Isobel retired to Orlando following a successful career as a clergyman in New York and northern New Jersey.
