Dam Tender’s House at Griggs Reservoir

Historic Sites, Monuments, Landmarks, and Public Art ()

Built in 1816, this house is one of the oldest limestone buildings in the state of Ohio. It is known as "The Dam Tender’s House" owing to its historic role after it was purchased by the City of Columbus in 1904 during the construction of Griggs Dam. The City of Columbus has recently stabilized the once-crumbling structure and has worked to restore the building and use it as a community center.

This historic structure has been identified by the Columbus Landmarks Foundation as one of the most endangered historic sites in the city.
