Pink Woman by Keith Stuart of Pecos New Mexico was donated to the Town of Lyons by the Tom and Melinda Wunder family. The piece has been relocated to "Melinda's Garden" dedicated to Melinda's many years of dedication and contributions to the arts in Lyons. She has spearheaded and guided the heARTS of Lyons program and we are grateful for her work and vision. This gathering place is surrounded by local flora that is tended by the Lyons Garden Club.

We Welcome You by Sally King is located on the corner of High Street and Highway 36. It was created with wood, stucco, paint, and dye. Sally King is a Lyons local who hopes to spark creativity in her community. She is known for her colorful and whimsical bear paintings and her vibrant floral paintings. We Welcome You is a 3d manifestation of Sally King's bears and are permanently placed to welcome visitors to Lyons. They are a celebration of the Black bears that live in this area and the nature that surrounds the Lyons community. "Art is not made in isolation. It's a weaving of people, food, community, nature. I believe art is not only about making beauty, it's about speaking our truth to empower and bring people together." Sally King has been featured in the tandem Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission and Lyons Regional Library art shows and her work is recognized throughout the community. Hannah Finch-Phillips painted one of the utility boxes in LaVern Johnson Park in 2021. She created an illusion piece so that the box would blend in with the surrounding scenery. LaVern Johnson Park is a historic park adjacent to Lyons downtown. The St. Vrain River runs along red cliffs that house golden eagles. Each side of the utility box shows a different piece of LaVern Johnson Park; the cliffs, the recreation fields, and the trees that fill the park.Creative Outlets is funded by the Lyons Community Foundation (LCF). The Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission hopes to continue this program with the support of the LCF to take utilitarian aspects of our community and turn them into something beautiful.

When he approached painting a utility box in LaVern Johnson Park, Ryan Sohlden was inspired by the history of the park. The historic park, which was previously called Meadow Park, was not always just open space, railroad tracks ran through the area during the height of the quarry industry. The town needed a place where trains could turn around to travel back down to Denver. Meadow park was the perfect spot for that.The trains that ran from Denver to Lyons not only carried sandstone and limestone but passengers as well. Travelers would come to Lyons and then continue their journey up to Rocky Mountain National Park and Longs Peak. Ryan Sohlden worked with the Lyons Redstone Museum to create an accurate depiction of the trains that would travel through Lyons, into Meadow Park, and back to Denver.To learn more about Lyons history, take the Lyons Historic District Walking Tour hosted on this app.

Eileen Coughlin Turnbull is a local artist who works in charcoal, paint, and sculpture. Cultural Crossroads is a hempcrete sculpture and is a permanent addition to the heARTS of LYONS program. Hempcrete is a biocomposite material that is lightweight and ideal for all climates. Hempcrete is often used in construction because of its strength and insulating qualities. Eileen Coughlin Turnbull uses it for her wall-hanging sculptures because of its durability, lightweight nature, and aesthetic appeal it offers. The Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission selected a shelter in LaVern Johnson Park for this sculpture because it is a place where both locals and visitors gather. LaVern Johnson Park is a historic park adjacent to Lyons' downtown district. The St. Vrain River runs through the park and the recreation centers are surrounded by red cliffs. Artist Statement: For over 32 years, I have been sculpting professionally. During that time, I have created public art and sculptures on three continents and in several countries, including the United States, China, Thailand and India. My Bronzes are on view in public spaces at Hudson Gardens, CO; Gillette, WY; Sioux Falls, SD; Mason City, IA; St. Paul, MN and more. In addition, they appear at the Denver Art Museum in Denver, Colorado and the Underwater Museum of Art in Florida.I am a women sculptor of color. My sculptures can be best described as figurative, stylistic representations of moments in life, a zeitgeist of my surroundings. I love creating in 3-D and believe in bringing art outside white walls and into public spaces to create a sense of community pride. Public art placemaking is the art of creating memorable experiences that are potentially transformative. Just like a house is transformed into a home with art, a space is transformed into a place with sculpture.

Day's Catch is a work by Highland's Ranch-based sculptor artist Shohini is originally from India. She graduated from the renowned Sir J.J. School of Art, in Mumbai, India in 1993, where she continued as a Lecturer at her Alma Marta while pursuing her art. Since moving to the United States in 1998, She she has developed her style from years of experience of creating across two continents, balancing the Asian approach to artistic aesthetics and the Western world of art called Humanism, which—at its most basic—places renewed values on intrinsic human anatomic knowledge, and the experience of this world. Sculpting and drawing from her multiple environments has nurtured and developed a unique global sentiment of humanity which is portrayed in her art with an eclectic approach to her body of work, form and sculpture. Her Art work is often described as being figurative, a stylistic representation of everyday fun, moving and powerful.The Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission on behalf of the Town of Lyons is proud to display her work as part of our heARTS of LYONS art all over town public art program.

My sculptures and two-dimensional works engage users through blends of organic, geometric, and architectural forms. Positive and negative spaces interact via cut-outs, layered curved profiles, projected shadows, and transitions of light and color. My sculptures are approachable at human scale, inviting the viewer to move around the work to explore planes, edges and volumes accentuated by bold color. They evoke rather than faithfully reproduce natural forms and draw on diverse artistic references from Maurice Sendak (In the Night Kitchen) to Henri Matisse cutouts, Anthony Caro and Frank Stella sculptures, and paintings as diverse as those of Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Stuart Davis, or David Hockney.

Charlotte ZinkPoisson and Mermaid are two sculptural chairs that have been placed to welcome visitors into Lyons' downtown district. They capture the whimsical, artistic nature of the Lyons art community and add a splash of color to the historic street. If you are resting on one of these sculptures, you can see Lyons historic Methodist Church which was built in 1908. Looking a block over you can see the Lyons Redstone Museum which is housed in the 1881 Schoolhouse. Zink Metal Art's two aquatic-themed chairs create a place on the corner of Main Street where modern creativity melds with Lyons' history. After studying art in Boulder, she decided to make Colorado her home. Drawing has been an important part of her life for as long as she can remember and she uses art to express her inner visions and thoughts. She has worked in watercolor, mask making, and papermaking. Currently, her focus is painting and sculpture."Ben cuts most of our designs with a handheld plasma cutter, and we work together on our different finishes. After the new Lyons Regional Library opened in 2020, the Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission hired a muralist through the Creative Outlets program to add something beautiful to the library's utility box. The Creative Outlets program is funded through the Lyons Community Foundation. Julia, an illustrator and muralist, chose to create a mural incorporating vibrant aspens, a Stellar's Jay, and a mountain lion. Every fall Stellar's Jays migrate through Lyons, spending a few weeks collecting food before moving on to lower elevations. The mountain lion is also an important part of Lyons' local ecology. Mountain Lions are native to the cliffs and ridges that surround the town. It is not uncommon for residents to catch sight of the large cats on their wildlife cameras. The utility box next to the Lyons Regional Library captures the spirit of nature that surrounds the Lyons Community. Ursa Libris was commissioned and sponsored by the Lyons Regional Library and Anita Miller. It was created by renowned Lyons artist Anita Miller. The bear and boy were created to convey the joy of imagination and reading.Anita Miller has been featured in a Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission and Lyons Regional Library tandem art show where she displayed work in other mediums. "I began my artistic studies with drawing, then moved to oil painting, pastels and watercolor. In 2014 I began to study sculpture which now competes with my love of painting. Stone carving, bronze and ceramics have opened a new path in my artistic journey. I also love plein air painting which deepens my experience of the beauty around me. I have painted across the US and in France, Italy, Ireland, Greece, Denmark and England. Currently, I'm working on a large bear and boy which depicts the joy of imagination and reading."Anita Miller is known for her Eyes of Freedom sculpture."In 2005, 22 Marines and one Navy corpsman were killed in Iraq. As an artist, I felt a calling to respond but had no idea how I could help. A couple of months later, I was awakened during the night by a vision of a traveling memorial. After 2 1/2 years, the work was completed and installed in the Ohio Statehouse Rotunda, just as I had seen it in my vision. I worked with the families of the fallen to insure the likeness of each man. The families began to say they felt their sons were still on a mission to serve their brothers, this time on a mission of healing. The memorial now has a full-time staff that brings the work all around the country, visiting over 275 venues over the last 13 years. Its mission is to honor the service and sacrifice of all who answer our Nation's call. Silent Battle is my recent addition to the Memorial. The bronze illustrates the struggles many veterans have with post-traumatic stress and suicide. The Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission worked with internationally renowned artists Android Jones to create a mural on Lyons Town Hall that captured the natural beauty and culture of Lyons. Android Jones worked closely with town staff and the Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission to incorporate themes that represented the nature and animals that surround the Lyons community. Every inch of the mural weaves in a new aspect of the local flora and fauna and the spirit of the Lyons community.Android Jones was born and raised in Lyons and is a digital painter. His work has been projected on the Sydney Opera House and the Empire State Building. He is known for his live performances that use a custom-built digital setup. He has traveled the world to exhibit his work and has participated in events on six continents. Pines Cones are sandstone sculptures created by <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Landscape-Company/Blue-Mountain-Stone-inc-215019108674456/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Blue Mountain Stone</a>, a sandstone quarry in Lyons Colorado.

Thomas Merton famously said, "Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time." Art in public spaces welcomes the community to experience the joys of art in their daily lives. 

Pine Cones by Blue Mountain Stone 

More than 70 Lyons citizens worked to create the mural on two panels. It was dedicated in June, 2003. Many Lyons businesses and individuals supported the collaborative community art project. More information on the process is available at the Lyons Redstone Museum. Cat Russel, of Spike Productions, produced a video on the mural project, which is available at the Lyons Regional Library and the Lyons Redstone Museum.

Lyons Mural; Past, Present, and Future is on the side of the Town of Lyons Visitor Center in Sandstone Park. The mural is the work of Cathy Rivers and Candace Shepard. They worked closely with the Lyons Golden Gang Seniors, Lyons Generationally Active People (GAP), and Lyons Middle/Senior High students to develop the core idea and images.

Lyons Gecko by Jacob Leeuwenburgh is a mixed material sculpture with metal and steel. Jacob is a longstanding member of the Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission who has dedicated years to adding new art to the community. He has worked with many artists in the heARTS of LYONS program to select and install new sculptures. As an artist, he has worked with Planet Bluegrass and the Lyons Community Foundation to create works of art for events. He is known for his colorful, engaging pieces. His Lyons Gecko is a vibrant addition to the Lyons downtown district. It is located near Oskar Blues, a Lyons institution. It welcomes visitors as they turn onto Main Street with a splash of color and whimsy. Jacob has been featured along with his partner, Ann Hall, in the Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission and Lyons Regional Library tandem art shows. He and his partner filled the Lyons Regional Library with their paintings. This sculpture was curated by the Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission.

Cultural Pedestrians is a work of Sue Quinlan. Sue Quinlan explores life's existential questions through sculpting artifacts and faces of ancient cultures. She is inspired by the unknown stories she sees on faces. She looks for stories behind the expressions and lines of the faces she sees. We all walk a similar circular path, but the influences of culture and experience can be seen on the surface.

The Clarifier Project involved the Lyons community. The project was started in 2006 and after the creation of the Lyons Mural 'Lyons Past Present and Future. In 2010, they began covering the entire 900 square foot surface of the structure.

Guardian by Eileen Coughlin Turnbull 

On September 11, 2020 – the seventh anniversary of the 2013 flood – the Bell of Renewal was installed along the South St. Vrain Creek, at the north end of the Bohn Park pedestrian bridge. The sculpture’s concept was born in 2018, when the Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission (LAHC) began working with a team of local artists, <a href="https://anitamillerartist.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Anita Miller</a> and <a href="https://www.sculpturebyjgmoore.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">James G. Moore</a>, to build a unique sculpture that would symbolize Lyons’ grit and resiliency. The bronze sculpture depicts a bell suspended from a tree branch, upon which a great horned owl with outstretched wings is perched. The bell showcases natural scenes in relief, including the iconic local Steamboat Mountain. The piece beautifully represents the nature in which Lyons thrives and memorializes the strength of the community through recovery. The piece features a functioning bell that passersby are invited to ring. Funding for the Bell of Renewal was provided by the Board of Trustees and independent funders. The sculpture is part of the heARTS of Lyons Outdoor Public Art Collection as Legacy artwork – a permanent addition to the Town’s public art collection.

In September of 2013, Lyons, Colorado was devastated by a historic flood. Anita Miller and James Moore worked with the Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission to create a work of art that embodied Lyons grit and resiliency. 

The Bell of Renewal 

Elyria is a sculptural bench with a shape that is reminiscent of a bicycle seat. The Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission (LAHC) selected this piece to add to the heARTS of LYONS program because it captures the community's love of the outdoors and represents the importance of preserving the nature that surrounds the Lyons.Elyria was placed in the Rocky Mountain Botanic Gardens near Bohn Park. Rocky Mountain Botanic Gardens is a non-profit organization that was formed "to foster an understanding and an appreciation of our Rocky Mountain native plants and wildlife, and to create a place where Lyons locals and all visitors to the garden of all ages can learn, and enjoy the peace and beauty of the natural world." The LAHC and the Rocky Mountain Botanic Gardens felt that Elyria fit perfectly with their mission and created a relaxing space for people to enjoy both sculpture and nature.Tree Sky EcoArt was created by environmental artists Renata and Vit Hromadkova. Renata is a self-taught artist with a background in interior design and industrial woodworking. Renata works with her husband Vit, an arborist, to save trees destined for the landfill and repurpose them into sculptural furniture.“Why import wood, which supports the destruction of rainforests and clearing old growth trees, when you can have quality, locally sourced urban wood? Every decision about materials matters. There is a human and environmental cost in the widespread destruction and transportation of trees from deforested communities.” Renata HromadkovaTree Sky EcoArt combines the creation of art with ecological and environmental sustainability. This utility box was the first addition to Lyons Creative Outlets program. In the years since, the Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission has had four additional boxes painted in the community. The commission strives to find local artists who can turn the community's utility boxes into unique, engaging works of art. "For this project, I choose a raccoons and sunflowers, with a 3D look, so that from one angle, it will look like the raccoons are inside the crate. It will blend with the area, and the box would be painted on all sides to look like a crate, and I would continue the sunflowers around the sides, to soften the look of the crate." - Jennifer Chapparo

Totem is a work created by Colorado-based artist Emmett Culligan. His artist statement is as follows:Emmett Culligan discovered his creativity early in life before studying painting in NYC at the Art Students League and later received his BFA in sculpture from the University of Colorado at Denver. His art ranges in scale from large monumental public art to small wall hung works and can be found in numerous collections and municipalities.His artistic concerns lie foremost within the manipulation of material and often reference common forms found in everyday life. He considers the act of “making” as primary to the universal human endeavor; finding comfort and purpose in this simple act. Beyond this intent and purpose, content is revealed through a process of “intentional transference” as described by the artist. "Within my work, an emphasis is placed on the natural inherent qualities of material interacting formally to access human emotion and spirituality. Paramount is the transcendence of the “physical” nature of the world by attempting to imbue material with a greater overall presence or energy. To me, this alchemic transfer of energy is perhaps the most interesting aspect of my artistic endeavor. When present, this energy can be felt yet always remains intangible and mysterious. The viewer is invited to discover this dichotomy within the sculptures’ formal unity and come to realize a deeper resonance." - Emmett Culligan

On some, I progress a little further in trying to figure out what I am doing — I step forward and backward and get lost. At certain times I am not sure what I am doing. Those are the best.

Artist Statement: I enjoy using several themes that I previously thought were mutually exclusive (yet in fact may not be) and combining them in a sculpture. Having multiple ideas coexist in a single piece is a useful metaphor for the ecosystem of thought that public art empowers and protects. My intent in this project is to make work that is both intellectually and emotionally engaging and serves to strengthen the health of the community where it is placed. Some background on me: for fourteen years I have been a full-time sculptor, focusing on site-specific projects informed by the intersection of the natural and human-made environment. My studio is in Loveland, just north of Lyons.

Steel and Concrete, A concrete and steel representation of an elk jawbone. Located on the east of end of Main Street in the heART of Lyons.Jawbone' is inspired by an elk bone I found while lost, thirsty, and a little worried in a canyon outside of Pagosa Springs, CO. It is made from a combination of concrete and steel, which I then ground back to reveal the armature.'

A Yin Yang is composed of 5 circles, with the large 2 melding into each other. This sculpture is a 3d interpretation of that with a total of 5 spheres. I used a chrome sphere as the small Yang (white, light) so it reflects light and its surroundings, since we can usually find some light in the dark and dark in the light, one doesn’t exist without the other, they are interdependent.It pays homage to equilibriums and connectivity. The Yin Yang is made out of steel rings that are interconnected in sacred geometric patterns and sequences. To bear and not to own; to act and not lay claim; to do the work and let it go: for just letting it go is what makes it stay.

Artist statement: Statement: My aim as an artist is to awaken the spirit within and remind us of its infinite potential and integral role in our interconnected cosmic web of existence. I intend for my art to invoke a deep contemplation of the transcendent human consciousness and the infinitely vast universe that is our home. Using the Fibonacci sequence and other forms of sacred geometry, my sculptures and paintings reflect light, and cast shadows in fantastic ways making them transform from day into night and from one vantage point to the next. I studied sculpture and painting in college, and am now a 3rd generation metal worker creating outdoor kinetic and stationary sculptures inspired by nature, geometry, time and spirit. I have been evolving a body of paintings and sculptures that depict the human experience since childhood and in the last decade created an outdoor sculpture business with my Dad. Ive always seen collaborations as one of the greatest ways to become a better artist and human

John King: Artist statement/Inherent Themes: - Look Up to locate yourself. The wider horizon is our source and destination. - The Calligraphy of bird wings gliding overhead. Information comes from connected observation. - Our relationship with Nature informs our Inspiration. I live on a river in Lyons, Colorado and make my artworks there. I am inspired by the movements of Nature, the wind and water and the interaction of the viewer. My work often finds its way to urban display sites. My work is friendly, connecting, optimistic and about this important moment. I have been creating kinetic wind activated artworks for many years. They are durable and long lived. They come alive.

Soaring Bird marks the entry to Bohn Park and Crystal way. It is designated as an honor to Crystal White and the many volunteer citizens who came together to help Lyons rebuild after the 2013 floods. Artist Statement: "I love creating timeless mosaics and glass-on-glass installations using tiles or stained glass that are shaped, fired, and carved. Public installations with glass/clay can take shape as murals, sculptural installations, or functional seating areas. I make sure that the materials used last a lifetime with only a wash of water-based sealant yearly to protect the grout from freeze thaw cycles. Think Pompeii abstracted, with the vivid colors of today, durable, timeless, and joyful. I also I’m excited about my kinetic hanging or free standing sculptural installations that move with the wind or ambient air currents of people moving about the building or using lighted elements that add to the nighttime palette.I embrace commissioned work, combining different views and engaging communities. In addition to working as a public artist I have a background in working as a commercial exhibit designer, theatrical set designer, advertising pro and scenic artist. I have designed and produced public art on schedule to exacting standards. I work well with community members and understand budgets, blueprints and most importantly listen. Let’s have fun working together to create the best public artwork for your community.

Annette Coleman is a prolific artist with many public installations. A self-described "recylista", she loves to incorporate found objects including the base of this piece. It was once a satellite dish!

I enjoy tapping into our common, cultural and human experience to bring diverse elements together in unexpected, meaningful ways that tell a new story.I may suggest a theme but I allow origins to remain clouded, paths to be nonlinear and incomplete. Mystery is more fun, and in the ambiguous and subjective, there is meaningful self discovery. I trust the viewer to create their own story, participating in the creative process via their own life experience. There is no right or wrong interpretation, only one’s personal, genuine response.

My intent in this project is to make work that is both intellectually and emotionally engaging and serves to strengthen the health of the community where it is placed. Some background on me: for fourteen years I have been a full-time sculptor, focusing on site-specific projects informed by the intersection of the natural and human-made environment. My studio is in Loveland, about an hour north of Denver.

This sculpture is made from wrecked truck hoods, and represents an abstracted family.I made it in 2010, while living in Utah at a time when the local politicians were trying to define and legislate what was (and was not) considered a ‘family’. While my situation fell within what was considered a traditional home, many of my friends, coworkers, and neighbors did not. I made this to represent the protective instinct I saw in my friends and community as a result of their defense of the people they loved.

Bill Foy is a prolific creator of sustainable art. He creates works from founds pieces of metal.Artist statement. "I was raised in Wyoming on a cattle ranch. Having always loved nature, things mechanical and history, I've been blessed to be able to make sculptures that embody those qualities. I try to use materials that cause older people to remember times gone by and younger people to wonder about a tool or a parts purpose and learn about the past. Also, if I piece is commissioned, the buyer may donate parts to personalize their sculpture.

"Calla" began with an enormous clump of calla lilies growing by my grandmother’s boarding house in north Louisiana. Three plants were transplanted to a back yard in New Orleans and eventually to a sheltered garden corner in Denver. The power of plants to again and again create life and beauty sparked the lush colors and sweeping shapes. With acrylic and aluminum, I’ve tried to describe a perpetual garden. I chose the materials in "Calla" for their contrast -- opaque aluminum and transparent acrylic sheet. In sunlight the translucent painting comes alive, glowing like stained glass. My sculpture is intended to delight. Brilliant color that shifts in natural light and playful silhouettes define my work. Many designs have been commissions, installed across the U.S. and in Europe, Japan and New Zealand. Two projects received Urban Design Awards from the City of Ft. Collins. I enjoy creating work inspired by the natural world, works that mix invention, play and beauty.

Calla was inspired by the calla lilies growing outside my childhood home. The translucent leaves glow in sunlight, caught between sweeping silhouettes to evoke a perpetual garden.The visual effect changes as the viewer moves and natural light shifts through the day. The acrylic and aluminum structure combines artist pigments with industrial finishes for durability in Colorado’s snowy winters and powerful sunlight.Like the hills overlooking Lyon’s Main Street, Calla hopes to echo the enduring beauty of the natural world...Barbara Baer

"Calla"

Artist Statement by Dvorah Dnali My motivating catalyst is understanding of the balanced versus the imbalanced aspects of society. I seek to understand the elements and principles of art to create a sense of unity and order in my work. It is most important to me that the underlying concepts are meaningful. I want my work to leave the viewer with lingering responses, which could fall along a continuum of positive or negative thoughts and feelings. An eclectic mix of issues and interests have influenced my artwork. Some of these themes relate to the natural world, others being more rooted in political and sociological concerns: a healthy planet; the sun, moon, and stars; the human figure and form; the womb; the impact of fascism; and guns and human rights issues such as slavery, black-white-yellow-red lives matter, plus other issues, etc.

This “WHY ?” sculpture reflects the universal visual and cry-outs of heard around the world. When the wind passes through it you can hear those wailing sounds of injustices, cruelties, struggles, wars, sicknesses, or love losses, etc. In total it gives you an emotional feeling of instability and weakness that trauma cause. The three (3) same faces connected by the hair with openings on top and through the eyes and mouth and in-between the arms for capturing the wind to give off those wailing sounds. This enhances the viewer to have that lingering response not only by sight but by sound, which may fall along a continuum of positive or negative thoughts and feelings.Interesting note: if you speak near her mouth, she echos and even howls on windy days.

Artist Statement: For over 32 years, I have been sculpting professionally. During that time, I have created public art and sculptures on three continents and in several countries, including the United States, China, Thailand and India. My Bronzes are on view in public spaces at Hudson Gardens, CO; Gillette, WY; Sioux Falls, SD; Mason City, IA; St. Paul, MN and more. In addition, they appear at the Denver Art Museum in Denver, Colorado and the Underwater Museum0 of Art in Florida. I am a women sculptor of color. My sculptures can be best described as figurative, stylistic representations of moments in life, a zeitgeist of my surroundings. I love creating in 3-D and believe in bringing art outside white walls and into public spaces to create a sense of community pride. Public art placemaking is the art of creating memorable experiences that are potentially transformative. Just like a house is transformed into a home with art, a space is transformed into a place with sculpture.

Artist statement : Stone, with its ancient and enduring presence, serves as my medium to explore the timelessness of humanity. It embodies the narrative of time, as it has witnessed the centuries pass, I am inspired by petroglyphs, and the whimsical characters I meet on the stone in the desert begged to emerge in three dimensions. My sculptures mimic the textures of nature- rough and smooth, fluid and geometric. I capture these dichotomies on all sides, inviting viewers to experience tactile and visual sensations. I strive to extract a portal to a world of introspection and encourage a moment of pause in the never-ending business of modern life. My current goal is to bring out movement in a solid block of stone, and this is no easy task! Contrasting angles, swinging earrings, moving arms, swaying necklaces- all contributing to a sense of movement in an unforgiving block.

<h4>SEAN YARBROUGH</h4><h4>Born and raised in Colorado, Sean’s first and foremost artistic inspiration stems from his father, Carl, whose career as a professional freelance photographer enabled him to travel the world, and experience beautiful, wild landscapes, unique cultures, and top athletes. Carl's lifelong dedication to his creative path continues to inspire Sean to this day.</h4><h4>Sean’s journey as an artist was profoundly impacted by Michael Hollenbach, his high school art teacher, who first exposed Sean to ceramics and sculpture. While attending Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, Sean embarked on his career as an artist, exploring various themes ranging from hallucinatory dreamlike states and visions, to environmental destruction, human consciousness, consumption and its impact on the world. These sculptures and paintings were just the beginning of his search into human perspectives of spirit and our relation to the cosmic universe. </h4><h4>After moving back to the front range post graduation, Sean traveled through Asia experiencing vibrant foreign cultures, landscapes, art and spirituality. In 2014, after returning from his travels, Sean began dedicating more time to meditation and his painting practice. Shortly after this, he attended a Visionary Art Intensive with Alex and Allyson Grey in Rhinebeck NY. Alex's artwork has always been one of Sean's greatest inspirations.
