Levi Coffin was an abolitionist who would allow escaped slaves to hide from people who wanted to return them to the South in his house. He also provided food and clothing to the escaped slaves. He helped hundreds of slaves escape slavery. He once referred to himself as “The president of the Underground Railroad”. The house is located in Fountain City, Indiana.
