This museum preserves and shares local history and offers a beautiful arboretum that is very popular with locals and travelers alike. Hastie Hall, a museum of the history of Dallas County opened to the public in 1953. Come and enjoy the wide variety of items available for you to see in the small museums where not only hand tools are on display but also transportation, farm machinery, railroad materials and a blacksmith shop are included. There is also the Alton one room school house, the Grabenhorst 1860′s Log Cabin and the Wagner Scale House. There are over 100 different species of primarily natives trees, shrubs, woodland area, re-established prairie and a butterfly garden which was originally developed in the 1940′s for your pleasure. The arboretum was planted in straight lines to allow farming between the rows.
