National Memorial Day Museum
Housed in the historic William Burton home, the National Memorial Day Museum commemorates the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The town of Waterloo is the officially recognized birthplace of the holiday, which was established in 1866. The museum features exhibits describing how the holiday originated and its impact on American history. The house itself was built in the 1830s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
