Text-to-speech Audio
Milestone Motel Inn, built in Mission Revival style in 1925 by Maino Construction for Hamilton Hotels. Known as the first ever “mo-tel,” a shortened name for “motor hotel” to fit on the sign. Architects Alfred and Arthur Hiereman had designed bungalow courts in Pasadena and Hollywood; the motel concept was thereafter widely adopted by others. Currently in plans for renovation.
