Located in one of the country's best known centers for winter sports, the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Museum honors the legacy of the two sports through its exhibits and events. Items on display include numerous ski and snowboarding related artifacts (skis, poles, snowboards, clothing, etc.). Topics covered are the Winter Olympics, Vail's history, the Ski Patrol, and the 10th Mountain Division, which trained here during World War II. Stories of famous skiers and snowboarders are also on display, as are some of the items they loaned to the museum. Many of these men and women are honored in the Hall of Fame housed in the museum. Film documentaries are shown in the exhibits as well.
