This museum is High Point's main destination for local history and research. It houses a 37,000 collection comprise of various objects, photographs and archive materials. Its main exhibit explores the history of the town, from the time when Native American inhabited the area to the present day. Furniture making was once a huge industry in the region after WWII and there is an exhibit gallery dedicated to this important economic driver. Another interesting exhibit features miniature structures built by Meredith Slane Michener in the 1:12 scale. Many items of the museum collection can be viewed online.
