In the 1920s, the town of Sanford grew rapidly as more families moved to take jobs provided by the mills owned by the Goodall family. The town needed a place to heal the sick and wounded. George B. Goodall began constructing this hospital in memory of his wife, Henrietta. Unfortunately, he could not see its completion as he passed away in 1927. His daughter Marion saw construction completed in 1928. The original building still serves a growing modern medical complex led by Southern Maine Health Care.
