This home exhibits several Prairie School motifs. It was built in 1906. It was first owned by Malcolm Jeffris who was born in Janesville in 1862. He was a prominent and successful lawyer, president of the Janesville Electric Company and director of Merchants and Savings Bank. The house has since been transformed into Senior Citizen Residences.
Although there are few pure Prairie School houses in Janesville, its influence can be seen in a number of houses from this period (1900-1930). A low, hipped roof with deep eaves, horizontal bands of windows, and a variety of rectilinear ornament are characteristic of this style.
