Frostop has been in the Huntington area since 1959 and has remained in the same place for all those years. It is located across from the Cabell Huntington Hospital which helps bring in business. Many locals love Frostop and eat there year round. In the summer Frostop is booming and the parking lot is almost always full. The Drive Inn is known for the Special double cheeseburger, root beer, and milkshakes. One of their most popular items however is their root beer float. The Frostop's giant spinning root beer on the top of their building, is a favorite Huntington landmark.
Frostop drive in is owned by Marilyn Murdock and Bing Murphy, the daughters of the original owner Rupert McGinni and his co-owner William Warnock. When Frostop was originally founded in 1959 it was a chain, but now days there are only a few of them left across the nation. The Frostop in Huntington survived and so did the Frostop root beer. In some states they still sell the root beer in stores! Even though most of these drive inns are gone now, Huntington is still keeping its legacy alive.
