This historic cemetery is located off La. 112, 13 miles east of DeRidder. The cemetery is located behind a small, white-washed church meeting house. Louisiana cypress cribs protect the graves, which are covered in shell. These unique shelters protected early graves and family members continue the tradition with more recent burials. Once commonly found in rural cemeteries in this part of Louisiana, these may be the last ones remaining in the state. The site is on the National Register of Historic Places. This is also a stop along the state-recognized "Myths and Legends Byway."
