The original building was built in the 1960s. It was renovated and expanded thanks to a bond issue to develop and expand libraries in the county. Richard Fleischman and Partners Architects was charged to lead the project. They worked on the existing site and left the former building with nothing but the concrete frame. An additional 160,000 square feet was added. The new structure wrapped around the existing structure in seamless fashion.
