Founded in 1965, the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum celebrates the pioneers of photography and preserves historic photographs and equipment. Over 500 artists are represented here, including Ansel Adams, Sebastiao Salgado, and Dorothea Lange. The museum houses 30,000 photographs and 5,000 cameras, including a basic brownie box camera, press cameras, and 19th century studio cameras. These items are rotated in and out of exhibits throughout the year. The museum is located in the vibrant Garden Center Arts District.

The International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum moved to St. Louis in 2013.
The museum moved here in 2013. Its first physical was first located in Santa Barbara, California (in 1977) and in 1983 it moved to Oklahoma City. St. Louis was chosen because it had a solid base of professional photographers as well as art schools.
