Driving Tour of African American History in Mobile Alabama

This driving tour begins at the site of an African American hospital and includes a variety of landmarks related to African American history in Mobile including churches and other institutions. This tour includes locations that were central to African American religious, business, education, and cultural experiences. Highlights of the tour include the National African-American Archives and Multicultural Museum and historical markers and homes related to topics ranging from slavery to the Civil Rights Movement. The tour concludes in the downtown area with the Mardi Gras Museum, several historical markers, and the History Museum of Mobile.
