The Paul Ambrose Trail for Health (PATH) serves as one of the City of Huntington’s efforts to grow and redevelop the city through providing connections between schools, communities, and businesses, a reduction in traffic congestion throughout the city, and growth of businesses through a new transportation trail.  PATH was constructed and is maintained through funds from sponsors, fundraising, and grants, and currently consists of seven miles of trails.  The trail system was designed by the Rahall Transportation Institute, the City of Huntington, and members of the community.

PATH is named in honor and memory of Dr. Paul Ambrose, a Huntington physician who died on Flight 77 during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.  Dr. Ambrose received his undergraduate degree from Marshall University and his medical degree from Marshall University’s Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine.  Dr. Ambrose specialized in family medicine and used his expertise in preventative medicine to treat obesity and educate communities about healthy living.  PATH aims to promote healthy living in Huntington.
