Antioch Baptist church is located in Shreveport Louisiana. Antioch Baptist Church was founded April 23, 1866 and originally named First Colored Baptist Church. After a storm destroyed the original building it was reconstructed 1903 on Texas Ave in what is now down town Shreveport. The church has changed its name over the centuries from Union Missionary Baptist church to its name today  Antioch Baptist Church and it is the home of Shreveport’s oldest African American congregation. Antioch Baptist church gave birth to four other Baptist churches in the city of Shreveport: Avenue Baptist Church, Evergreen Baptist Church, Trinity Baptist Church, and Union Missionary Baptist Church. Antioch Baptist church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.
